Kat Bryan Wallace… Welcome to my world!

My work is about life, memories, and influences that shape us to become who we choose to be in life.  I am a creative artist who writes, is a visual studio artist, and takes photographs of life and those who touch my life fleetingly or over a long period of time.  I absorb and reflect in ways the memory experiences the events that occur as we travel through life. Memories do dim and transform over time just as a raw photographic image will be solidified into a permanent picture and never return to its original vision.

During a lifetime a person will experience millions of moments of experiences. Some of these will be happy and some devastatingly sad. We all experience euphoric highs and sorrowful lows, devastating as well as beautiful events, during a lifetime of living. All of these occasions, happy or sad, shape our world views, political and religious inclinations, our beliefs, wants and desires. We all hope, believe and dream our expectations of life from these experiences. These memories may dim and transforms as our lives unfold, but they shape us nevertheless, they create who we are, what we are, our inner goodness, honesty, and kindness – who we become and are when no one is looking.

I watch people and listen to their stories, I contemplate their surroundings and how they have chosen to live their lives, select and value the people and possessions that surround them. These people, their stories, and possessions provides a multitude of possibilities for representations of life, living, and emotion in my work. My art has become a reflection of what I hear, the emotions I experience when I hear the stories, as well as my observations of their life. I strive to make the observer feel or sense the emotion of this interpretation of a memory.

Sometimes it is not what is obvious in the drawing, painting, or photograph, but the feeling it invokes in you when you view the vision.   What might not be obvious is what I would prefer to have the observer perceive and contemplate.

And hopefully, what I write and is read by those who choose to do so, will touch them in a way that will stay in their heart or head or change them and the way they think and view the world forever.

Welcome to my creative world.
